Ovidio Torres Doble was my grandfather and the founder of Torres & Rodríguez, our insurance company.
A Puerto Rican raised in New York, at just 16 years old he joined the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic. During his tours, he visited Puerto Rico—and somewhere along the way, he decided he would come back.
He did.
He married my grandmother, built a family, and bet on himself as an entrepreneur. He built many businesses while studying Business Administration most nights, proving that education, discipline, and determination could change the course of a family.
But perhaps his greatest business was the life he built for those he loved.
He provided safety.
He provided food.
He provided education.
He provided independence.
He gave his family the courage to dream bigger.
And in doing so, he planted a seed.
Today, we are still nurturing the tree.
Every client we serve, every business we build, every new generation that gets to dream a little bigger, we carry a piece of what he started.
Thank you, Abuelo, for betting on yourself so that we could believe in what was possible.
Your seed became our roots.
And we will keep growing. 🌱
